Nintendo announced that the Nintendo Switch will be getting a new OLED model on October 8, and we are stoked!
While the new model will be similar to the original Switch, it will have a 7-inch OLED display in place of the original model’s 6.2-inch LCD display. So, not only will you be able to enjoy a bigger screen size, but the OLED display will also ensure that the colors will be more vivid and provide a higher contrast.
As with the OG Switch, the OLED version will be playable on your TV, in handheld mode, and in tabletop mode. That aside, the OLED Switch will also come with a wide adjustable stand for tabletop mode and a new dock with a wired LAN port. Storage-wise, it will also offer more internal storage at 64GB instead of just 32GB so you can store more games – hallelujah!
You’ll also get to choose between two color options. The red-and-blue set will come with red and blue controllers on a black main unit and dock, while the white set will come with white controllers on a black main unit and white dock. The white one actually looks pretty similar to the PlayStation 5, so we think they would look great next to each other.
Doug Bowser, President of Nintendo of America says, “The new Nintendo Switch (OLED model) is a great option for players who want to experience the new vibrant screen when playing in handheld and tabletop mode.”
There are no set prices for the Philippines yet, but it will launch in the US at $349.99 (roughly Php17,500). While waiting, make sure to get your gaming fix at an SM Cyberzone near you!
