Hankering after a new smartphone in the Philippines but not sure what’s worth your hard-earned cash? Check out this quick and dirty Vivo V19 Neo review!
We put a test unit through its paces and, in a nutshell, we found the V19 Neo to be a midrange Android number that performs quite decently and looks great to boot.
Let’s start with a peek at the Vivo V19 Neo’s specs as well as its body. What we have is a phone that fits really comfortably in one’s hand despite its large 6.44-inch screen. Vivo designed the V19 Neo well; the bezels of its bright, beautiful screen are razor-thin, and those of you who dislike screen notches might be happy to know that this phone has a punch-hole front-facing camera lens. There’s very little to detract from that pretty screen up front. Out back and around the sides, Vivo’s judicious use of high-grade plastic helps keep this phone’s weight down while making sure it has a quality feel. And if you’re wondering about the Vivo V19 Neo’s colors, you have two options—a fresh-looking Crystal White and a crisp, cool Admiral Blue—both snappy and attractive choices. (Hats off to Vivo for including a protective film for the screen as well as a protective case in the package.)
Now let’s take a look at how the Vivo V19 performs. The heart of this phone, its Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 octa-core chipset, isn’t going to set the world on fire, but Vivo’s more than made up for that by equipping this phone with a very generous 8GB of RAM, which makes this phone a snappy performer irrespective of what you do with it—even if you try some of the more intensive games. The V19 Neo also comes with Android 10 overlaid with Vivo’s FunTouchOS 10, which allows for heavy customization but is perfectly fine when used as is. Also, if you’re not really into cloud storage and prefer to store stuff in your phone, you’ll appreciate the fact that the V19 comes with 128GB of expandable storage.
We’ve reserved a special section to talk about this phone’s cameras, of course. The Vivo V19 Neo showcases a four-camera setup on its rear: a 48MP main snapper, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro lens. As you might expect, cramming all of this firepower into a phone results in pretty decent photos, whether taken outdoors in bright light, indoors under bad lighting, and at most points in between. The 2MP macro snapper also gets our nod, thanks to its ability to take sharp and clear shots when you’re very close to your subject. The V19 Neo does come with a Night Mode feature to further enhance snaps taken under awful lighting via long-exposure shots. And if you love taking selfies, this phone’s 32MP front-facing camera might just make your day.
Other things that stood out? We like the fact that this phone comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor and a Face Unlock feature, as well as a big 4,500mAh battery and a fast-charge function to boot.
Lastly, if you’re wondering about the Vivo V19 Neo’s price, it’ll set you back just PhP17,999—not a bad deal, we feel, for a phone like this.
