Huawei had recently unveiled their first pre-built desktop, the MateStation S, along with its 23.8-inch FullView Display, in the Philippines. Timing couldn’t be more perfect for the tech giant to finally dip its toes into the desktop computer market, as the demand for home office equipment steadily increases due to the rising number of employees being deployed within the confines of their makeshift corner space workstations.

Here’s a first look at Huawei’s relatively compact desktop computer.

At first glance

In its basic form, the MateStation S could easily be mistaken as an entry-level, low-powered pre-built computer due to its slim, minimalist appearance. But don’t let this fool you. Standing only at less than 30cm, this computer is armed with AMD Ryzen™ 5 4600G Processor with Radeon™ Graphics, 8GB RAM DDR 4 3200MHz, and 256GB SSD high-speed storage to give the needed boost in accomplishing heavy computing tasks without falling short. Meanwhile, the computer’s built-in WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, and NFC offer quick wireless connectivity.

The computer is also fitted with Ports such as HDMI, VGA, USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, USB-A 2.0, USB-C 2.0, serial port, audio in-out ports, microphone, RJ45 LAN cable port, and 3.5mm plug comes in handy for those who still prefer wired connectivity and peripherals.

Small wonder

Along with the usual features come MateStation S’ integrated cooling system that effectively counteract and dissipate heat produced by the computer during the most exhausting of tasks like gaming at full HD or video editing without the annoying whirring noise.

And speaking of smartphone integration, the MateStation S also offers seamless cross-device experience when using Huawei Share with various Huawei Smartphones that support NFC. This means users can navigate and interact with their phones through the computer for easy phone-to-PC file sharing, editing, syncing, as well as for multi-screen collaboration.

In terms of security and privacy, the MateStation S boasts its One-Touch Startup Fingerprint Power Button to prevent unwanted access. In addition to this, the users can also integrate their Huawei Smartphones to access the computer using the Tap to Connect feature.

View it to believe it

What better way to complement the full capacity of the MateStation S than to experience it visually? In order to exhibit this, it needs to be paired with an equally powerful monitor in the form of Huawei 23.8-inch FullView Display. This TÜV Rheinland-certified monitor exudes 90% screen-to-body ratio with an impressive 1080p resolution, with a 72% NTSC color gamut and 1000;1 contrast ratio for optimal immersive viewing experience. The monitor’s 178° Viewing Angle, paired with VESA-compliant display holder allows the users to freely adjust the vertical angle according to their preference.

A second look

All in all, Huawei’s earnest attempt to penetrate the desktop market proves to be a success. The inevitability of MateStation S + 23.8-inch FullView Display facing stiff competition against its counterparts is certain. Then again, it’s not far to imagine Huawei could easily snatch the top spot and dominate the market, all thanks to the MateStation S’ right balance of style, functionality, and power.
